easiest way to pop pcb's out of standoffs
« on: January 19, 2015, 10:12:28 PM »
I recall seeing a plastic tool to easily pop pcb's off stand offs. Can't find them now. Is there something I can manufacture a tool from or is there a method to pop these out? Using thin pliers can be difficult.

You can buy them but its just a  plastic or brass tube that you push over the standoff and lift the board at the same time. They were included in some older machines. A gutted pen ( just the hollow tube ) is just a little to big but it does work.

They are a few dollars to buy but just as easy to find a tube with the correct diameter that fits over the end.

I made this for pin removal BUT the same thing applies - get a piece of suitable sized brass tubing from a hobby shop and stick it in a handle:
