EM plays per coin

My local barber shop has a vintage theme to it and my hairdresser says she would love an old pinball machine to add to the theme. So I tell her I have a working one at home she can use.(1968 gottlieb Spin Wheel)                                      My problem is it is either 1 play for 2 coins, 3 plays for 1 coin or 6 plays for 1 coin as it was originally from Germany.        Can anyone help me out on how to set it up to 1 coin 1 play . Cheers

Yep, there are Jones plugs in the backbox to swap around to change pricing - refer the manual for pricing and/or there were originally pricing adjustment instructions stapled inside the backbox.

Thanks Homepin but machine is 1968 which is pre manual and there is nothing in the back box. I have a schematic and know W relay (3rd chute relay) has a sticker over it with 3 plays relay on it.The P relay (2 plays relay) has a sticker over it with 6 plays relay on it . It also has a 2 coins relay (Q) . Really looking for some guidance with this guys

As Mike stated - There was a "coins per play" card stapled to either the headbox or inside the lower cabinet. The coin information might be on another supplemental schematic - if it came with this machine (may have been removed / lost) ?

Found this on a thread on Pinside "German built games typically had circuitry for EXTRA credits above and beyond the normal 2, 3, 4, or 5 plays for the right coin chute. This is because they had a 1 Mark and 2 Mark coin as well as a 50 pfennig coin (2 = 1 Mark). So, like the US Dime, you would get 1 play. For the 1 Mark Coin, you would usually get a bonus (just like the US Quarter ($0.25) giving 3 plays). They would give you an even bigger bonus if you wanted to invest 2 Marks at one time!"

Thanks for the replies guys but I am confused. Are we saying there is a or some jones plugs in the back box that can alter the amount of credits per coin in each chute.As it stands at the moment I have a 20 cent mech in the 2 coins 1 credit slot so 40 cents per game. Middle coin slot gives 3 credits per 20 cents and the right slot gives 6 credits per 20 cents .All I want to do is change either the middle or right slots to give only1 credit per 20 cents or $1 depending on which coin mech I use.

On a Gottlieb 1973, for the two coin chutes I have one Jones plug that adjusts the credits for only one of the two chute.  My first chute is fixed at one credit per coin, and the second shoot is adjustable by the Jones plug.

That Jones plug is located on the bottom board of the game, not the back box.  It is roughly centred on the board (regarding left/right), and 3/4 way towards the back of the machine.

There is one pin (single pin plug) that can be moved into any of about 5 sockets.  Each socket is a setting for the number of credits for that coin chute - simply place the pin into the socket that represents the number of credits you want.

Sounds like you have three of these Jones plugs.  If you still have your cards in the game that identify what the comments are, look for the word "chute adjustment".


(Note that 'chute' is an alternate way of spelling 'shoot'.  My card used the spelling 'chute').

No sign of a jones plug for coin adjustments. I think goodoldays is on to it. There is a yellow wire from the door to the w and P relays that's not on the schematic. It links those relays together making them both and the start relay pull in to give you 6 credits but only the P and start for 3 credits. Does this sound like I am on the right track.

you could block up 2 coin slots with plates. Then just  use 1 coin 3 credits slot only , Put a $2 dollar coin mech into that chute ,
One thing though , Do  they make a 2 dollar coin mech,? other might know.  I'm not sure .
 Depends on how much you want to charge you could .
I have been fixing a Williams  ( Jackpot) game with the 3 same german  coin shoots , I'll have a look when i get back to the guys place,and see if there is a way around it , and double check for any  coin adjustment plugs
Each chute has its one relay set up , and one uses a smaller stepper to count up the credits,

Yep .. that sounds like it to me .

Agree the easiest option would be 3 plays for $2 , if you can somehow modify the slot to fit a $2 coin and fit a suitable coin mech .

or, being an EM what about 3 plays for $1 ?

Ok guys I am putting it in the to hard basket and taking on board Ralph67s idea which was seconded by goodolddays.  Installing a 20 cent mech in 2 coins 1 play chute and block of the other 2, I think 40 cents a game is ok on an EM. Thanks for the input guys
