Who to sell to?
« on: June 25, 2015, 07:42:43 PM »
Just curious

 !*!
So, you have something for sale so you list it on the site
Come back an hour later and you have two people wanting to buy
One is a regular user and is always helpful
The other is a lurker who has made 4 posts in 3 years

Sell to the first to post, or to the active member?

Confucius say:

Get both buyers in one room with the item. Start up chainsaw and makes moves to cut item into 2.
The one that tries to stop you is the rightful new owner

Tough call Peter but i suppose money talks bs walks.

If the first to post/pm pays then okay. Just give a timeframe for payment. If not received by xyz then second post/pm.

Good luck

Yep, tough one Pete.

First in with the PM is how I generally operate, as long as prompt payment is made.

Re lurking, to be honest I'd prefer to deal with a lurker than certain others....

If the regular poster is a helpful/valuable forum member I would go with them anyday. No need for the lurker to know they were first in....tell them they were second and have first option if it falls through.
Maybe a little white lie but no harm done in my opinion.

Do what you think is the most honest.

The first person to contact may not be able to pay or meet your terms.
And visa versa.

Do what you think is the honest thing to do.
Your conscience will know the answer.

Lol - we now know how Space Jam operates  *%*  I'd sell to the person least likely to be a PITA one week, two weeks or one year down the track. We all know pins are somewhat delicate so will require maintenance & "fixes" even if sold in pristine condition. I still have a guy calling me about a year after I sold him a superb Gibson guitar - everytime he breaks a string I have to reassure him, sigh...
I enjoy Porsche, Gibson LPs, Bally-Williams & learning about pinball maintenance & restoration.

Frequency of posting is not an accurate gauge of good character and shouldn't be rewarded simply on that criterion alone.

A lot of times it is the members who watch from the sidelines who are the most reliable.

Simple.
Sell to whoever you like as long as they have the cash.

Some of the nicest pinheads I've met are also some of the quietest forum members.

Whoever PM'd you first Pete - has first option - on your terms. Move your way down the list until you have the $ and the member has the playfield.

I should point out that this is a hypothetical

I had a couple of enquiries from lurkers, but before I could respond I had a firm offer from a fellow member
