Gottlieb System 1 Problem - Sinbad
« on: July 19, 2015, 11:13:52 PM »
Hi there,

I have an issue with my Sinbad machine, when I turn it on the player 2 display is fully illuminated and you cannot see the score for player 2 and unable to see the sub menus in the settings..

I have a wumpf mpu and a rottendog driver board..

Anyone seen this before or know what might be going on..

See pic below..

Cheers: Brettski... :)

Have you tried swapping displays around?
If the problem moves with the display then one of the chips on the display might have gone bad

Thanks Chris,
Worth a try at least it starts the process of elimination.. have a gut feeling it's beyond that but I will definitely try and see what happens.. :)

A bad connector on the display itsself can cause that, have seen that a few times on system 1 Gtbs.

Try reseating the connector on that display, better yet give the contacts on the display a clean with some sandpaper and see if it helps.

With resetting the connectors, it is a good idea to check the solder joints for cracks or dry joints.
Sometimes I have run around thinking an issue is worse than what it is, later to find it was something simple.

I had a strange issue with a Mousin Around that had garbled characters.
It's problem was worse. On the board some battery vapors caused some damage to a chip that then didn't work properly.

Replaced the chip and cleaned out the area and all working.

You guy's are good, simple bad connection on the display connector, simple slide off and back on and all tested ok..
I guess it's time to re pin the connectors, I have a Cleopatra to do too so might as well make a weekend of it!! :)

Thanks again you guy's rock!
