Judge Dredd Deadworld Mod problem (of course)

Hi guys

Oh Dredd you temperamental old thing...

It's been working fine for months with the Deadworld mod, but now the crane is misbehaving. It goes across, drops down and stays there whilst the planet spins and the balls bump the crane as they goes past under it. On the 'Unload Planet' test, it does the same. After a while it gives up, stops in the 'out' position and like above, gets bumped by the balls in the spinning planet.

Took out the crane's opto bracket under the playfield and gave it a good clean before putting it back. A little muck came off, but nothing major. I switched it off for a few hours with left three balls in the planet. Switched it on, pressed Start and it did the 'Missing Pinballs' routine. It emptied the planet perfectly. A few games played and the Deadworld multiball worked ok. And... then it didn't, doing the same old thing.

Have filmed the problem, using my terrible cinematographer skills...

I'm stumped to why it works sometimes and then other times not. Any ideas or tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!
