Townsville Pinball Open 2016

Hi All,

I am looking to hold a comp at my place with points on offer (pending IFPA approval). I understand that it is a heck of a long way up the coast for people to travel, but just wanted to let people know if they were in the region .  This will be a sat morning through to lunch or soon after event, with 3 young kids i would like to wrap it up by mid arvo.

Date: Sat 2nd July
Time: 9am SHARP starting time, until approx 1 or 2pm
Where: Alligator Creek - 15 mins south of Townsville
Cost: $20 per person
Prize money:
Main event: 1st - 40%, 2nd - 15%, 3rd - 5%
Pingolf: 1st - 15%, 2nd 10%, 3rd - 5%
10% to go towards sausage sizzle for lunch and lucky door prizes and part of other prizes
Sponsors: McClarty Constructions (local builder) has very generously donated trophy's for this event. 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Main event and 1st for Pingolf will all receive a trophy and a T-Shirt

Main comp:

Round 1:
4 player games on 3 machines.
Players grouped randomly
IFPA scoring (7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th)

Round 2:
   4 player games on 3 machines
   Players grouped based on Round 1 seeding (tiered Swiss)
IFPA scoring (7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th)

Round 3:
4 player games on 3 machines
   Players grouped based on Round 2 seeding (tiered Swiss)
IFPA scoring (7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th)

After Round 3, top 8 or 50% (whichever is lesser) progress to the semi-finals
Semi Final:
4 player games on 3 machines.
2 groups of 4 based on seeding 1,3,5,7 and 2,4,6,8
IFPA scoring (7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th)
Bottom 2 of each group eliminated

Final:
4 player games on 3 machines.
IFPA scoring (7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th)

In the event of any round having a tied rankings for the final or to make the cut for a qualifying round, those players who are
tied will play a multiplayer tiebreaker game on a single machine randomly
drawn.


Pingolf

Qualifying on 9 machines

Top 8 or 50% (whichever is lesser) qualify for finals:

Final:
4 player games on 3 machines.
IFPA scoring (7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th)


Due to space and time limitations, looking at capping this at 24 people.

Machines almost definitely available: Transformers LE, Jurassic Park, Spiderman, Corvette, ACDC LE, Medieval (NBA) Madness, Spy Hunter, KISS (Bally 1979), Popeye, Black Knight 2000, Lethal Weapon 3
Machines possibly available: Twilight Zone, Paragon

Sorry, made a small error.  The pingolf finals will involve the top 4 qualifiers (not the top 8)

Getting pumped for this. 28 confirmed attendees. Got all the machines lined up after bringing some in from the shed and moved furniture out. Got tomorrow off to clean and adjust all of them before the comp.

Well, totally exhausted after an awesome day.  Here are a few pics







Had 5 kids compete, with a special mention of Ava (left of photo) who came 9th overall out of 27 - rippa effort and a great player.  Kids were over the moon with their medals



Special mention to McClarty constructions for generous donations of the trophys and medals, and Gracie Signs for donation of printing of the shirts - some were prizes, some lucky door prizes as well

Had some good players and competition, with the final 4 in order of the main event finals being:

North Qld winters are awesome.  This morning at 5am when i left home it was 9 degrees and I thought i had been plunged into Arctic conditions...should back up to 27 by 10am, so things will be fine then!

Yeah, the kids can't stop talking about it, and it was cool seeing them play among (and sometimes beat) the adults.

Ha - no fingers, but a couple of pool cues! Ceiling height is just 2.4m, so it is legal
