Photoshop Sizing help

Hey all,

Ok - I am making these new pinball cards.
I create them as a PSD file in Photoshop at 153mm x 83mm  x180 resolution.
If I print them from Photoshop- great - they print to size.

So.........if others want to use the cards and they dont have Photoshop I thought I would put them onto an A4 size image , 210 x 297 mm so they could print them from any printer.

What happens is they end up printing at about 140mm x about 75mm !

Heres what I mean....

I create this file at a size of 210 x 297 mm  x 180 resolution and drag the cards onto it.




You can see here that my sizes are correct.....



And yet this prints out and the card images are smaller !
I just dont get what I am doing wrong here.

Any thoughts?

A couple of things you could try.  Resolution of 180 may be the problem, I generally use 300 for things that I need to print.  But what I usually do is import the image into another program where I can control the exact size -- for instance, a page layout program like InDesign or even Word.  Save your image as a JPG, import it into word and format it there to be the exact size you want.

In the printer setup, there is usually some well hidden options like "Print at image resolution" versus "print at printer resolution". (or similar).
Also there may be options in the scaling area - "print at 100%" or "print to fit" etc etc etc

I normally export to Correl Draw and pdf to the correct size and print off that way

Thanks guys - will try the 'Word' option tomorrow and start with that, then move on to those other wizz bang programs like Corel Draw if need be.......many thanks

if you create and save as a pdf version 4 then no one will have any problems. Youll find that saving a psd file and (or any native format will change becuase of the different printers - anyway youve probably solved this problem already.
