Top score player unit advancing during game

When i play a one player game when i score the player unit advances one step and player 2 lights up and scores, when the ball drains it advances back to player one then the same thing happens so my question is what controls the player unit to step, it will only step when i score like a vibration sets it off

Had a quick look at the schematics and I thinking your 'Trough Switch' may be gapped to closely. Do you have a schematic?
