overpowered flippers problem
« on: December 08, 2009, 03:53:53 PM »
My new Data East BTTF has seriously hyper powered flippers - to the point that I'm afraid the balls will damage the plastics etc.
I have tried stronger return springs to no avail.
The coils on the machine are #090-5020-30.
The manual says "coil type 23-900"
Conversion charts seem to indicate they are one and the same?
Actually ALL the solenoids are pretty vicious.

Can anyone cast light on this problem?  !@# !@# !@#

Thanks
Max

Check the voltage settings for machine. Most likely incorrect

You can adjust the coil power in the settings menu on a lot of the Data Easts , so have a look through the menu just to see what it's set at.....low , normal or high
And also as MartyJ has said ,check that the transformer is jumped to the corrct voltage

Has anyone got photos or diagrams of the correct Aussie jumper settings for the various machines?  I used to copy the jumpers off my first machine - that was until I found out they were wrong.   @.@
Addicted to pins.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen.
Checked voltage pinning - correct @ 230v
Checked settings - coils were set on "hard" now adjusted to "soft"
I'd be a doodlehead, the first time I looked in the manual there was no coil power adjusment listed.
Armed with your pointers, I looked again and f**k me; it had printed itself on the page overnight.
Game plays beautifully now . . . . .
Cheers

Could be those eyes of yours on the way out Max. :D :D :D

Have you warmed to the machine now that your slowed the flippers down. Honest option

Already wearing specs ^%^ I'll have to play like "Tommy" next!
Not really all that titillated by the gameplay in BTTF.
Think I will move this game on to make way for a Pinball Magic when the right one comes up.
