Swords of Fury - 2 small issues - help
« on: January 06, 2010, 11:13:31 PM »
Just replaced my MPU (from another machine), put freshly burnt U26 and U27 game roms in.

Ive found a couple of issues:
1. "U10 PIA failure" message sometimes appears but not all the time - do I need to replace the U10 chip?
2. and no speech - I have music and other sounds but no speech - why? Ive press the button on the MPU and in test mode to test the speech and got nothing.

where to now? Is all the sounds, music and speech on the same chip(s) or are they separate?

Cheers
John.

this month's stupid award goes to me for forgotting to put the sound roms in (u21 and u22).

The 'U10 PIA failure' message is gone - not sure how it was fixed (only put new batteries and the sound roms in) - played 30 games without any problems.

hehehehehe You "Winner" .........

I haven't looked too deep into mine, but i understand the speech rom is seperate....mine had a fault (before it was delivered to me) and they mumbled something about the speech rom socket being dodgy, probably a dry solder joint on the rom power or chip select pin...

I gave up on fixing my original MPU board and was lucky enough to find and buy a working board from the US. Replace the game roms but forgot the sound roms. All sweet now.

will do I after a get and apply some new playfield insert decals.
