Fish Tales Multiball Issue
« on: January 26, 2010, 11:23:38 AM »
Gday lads, just been playing Bens FT and we seem to be having a slight problem with the multiball. It goes into the lock, gets shot over to the reel as it should,  then gets kiked out straight away. While this happens, another ball is loaded into the shooter lane. Also, while game is in play, the reel sometimes spins randomly. What would be the first thing we should check?

We are not sure whether this game has a 2 ball and 3 ball feature? From memory i think its only 3 ball. Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Andy.

Clean the optos under the reel, and check the switch in the catapult as well. Dirty optos is my guess, and its a common/easy fix issue.

Ok, thanks. We thought it was something not too complicated, cheers.

While you're at it, couldn't hurt to check all the switches. I've had a flaky trough switch cause this sort of issue before too. Game got confused as to where the balls were.

Seems Pinkong sorted out the problem...Cut n Pasted from elsewhere>
"I replaced the resistors first on the optic board and tested same error, as this was easy.
So I then removed the LM339 on the optic board (only one on FT) did I say I hate removing small components like these, about an hour of desoldering and removing as it was in a tight spot and I have damaged traces before doing this on a PCB so was extra careful.

Added a socket (to make replacing the LM339 easy if it ever happens again + they are easier to solder in than a chip no worries about to much heat ) put in the new LM339 no errors

Woo hoo all working correctly! My diagnoses was correct and now Fish Tales is working correctly.

Not bad for a $3.60 fix"
Cheers for the replies,
Andy,
