Playfield Stand

This is a handy playfield stand that I made 2 - 3 years ago from leftover pieces of wood. Took an hour to make and I use it on every machine I recondition or restore. I have two stands - the one pictured fits any single body playfield. My other one was made for widebody pins.

When you are not using it - Just store it under a pinball, or hang it on the wall. I have added felt strips to protect the playfied when reversed.







Next piece of equipment I want to make is a playfield rotisserie  - on wheels !

I also use it for DMDs now. You can remove the playfield and have it placed on the stand (which is in turn in a table next to the DMD), and troubleshoot the pin with the playfield out.

It is easily my favorite "tool in the shed"..

What made it so simple was that it was made from offcuts and I "made it up" as I went along...

If not tonight - I'll do it tomorrow.. It is "somewhere" in the garage !

Nino sent me a pic of this and i made one up in about an hour.

Just measure the outer width and length of the pF. Then add 20mm

Screw the timber together and then apply the inside shorther ones to the inside of what youve already made, using 40mm X 70mm timber throughout

I dont know how i ever managed to do PF restores without this now - its an awesome tool

Its done.  I must say, with some measuring and planning it turned out OK.  I have ZERO carpentry skills and usually end up breaking it.

Now for the test - if the actual playfield fits

Nice job and an improvement on my design. I'm pleased to say my stand design is now being used for a few pinheads - and if it makes their jobs easier - I'm all for it

I've attached a rough pic with measurements if anyone wants to build one.  It certainly fits my T2 playfield perfect.

As for materials they are as follows:

• 4 x Pine dressed DAR board 90mm x 19mm x 1.8m (cost of $18.72)
• 1 x Pine dressed DAR board 140mm x 19mm x 1.8m (cost of $7.56)
• 4 x angle bracket heavy duty carinya 100mm x 100mm x 40 Zinc (cost of $19.04)
• assorted screws

So for a total cost of $45.32 a handy jig to have....Thanks again to Nino for the ideas...

As a finishing touch - I added "beer seal" offcuts to the sections that the playfield rest on. This is handy if you want to turn the playfield upside down.
