I recently purchased the Pascal 4 in 1 board for Joker Poker, with the aussie dollar being so good i was very happy to get it here inc insurance for $340.00 aussie dollars.I have only heard of good reports about this board so am happy to have it ready to go in if i have a major issue with the original boards.I am no expert on boards but have been told that if a certain chip goes in the original board you cannot replace it.I was thinking about purchasing an Altek board to have as a back up for the Bally games i have but was interested to read the comments about a couple of issues with it.Cheers Tony.
I've installed two Pascal 4 in 1 boards and they are excellent. For a few extra $, you can buy the enhanced sound daughterboard. This is only for selected machines, and it adds extra sounds - similar to SYS80 sounds. I installed this arrangement on a Genie and it was simply outstanding !
I keep an Altek as a spare. When restoring an older SS title, you need to have a stable board to test the machine before placing the original board back into the game. I always attempt to repair the original MPU, and out of 20 - 30 boards, only one has "stumped" me. Always a good idea to have an Altek lying around !
