Help: Buzzing flipper coil
« on: February 28, 2011, 01:43:28 PM »
My Black Knight has developed a buzzing flipper coil when its energized, I have adjusted the EOS switch but that doesn’t help. I only recently replaced the EOS switch as the old one was pitted. I had no trouble with it after that but it’s only in the last couple of days I have played it that the coil buzzes when its energized.  Would a new coil help this problem??
Eney help be appreciated...

Try simple things first - are the screws on the coil stop tight ?

Is the coil stop and / or plunger worn ?

Good solder connections on the coil / EOS ?

Buzzing stoped, I took the coil out and changed the coil sleeve, replaced the EOS switch and soldered all the lugs,,,  #*#
The coil stops where ok and the plunger to...
Have changed plenty of coils before but this time for sum reason I put one of wires about face and blew the 15amp flipper power fuse  ^.^  Dam..
And just check where those hot solder blobs go, I had one fall on a GE47 globe and it shorted so It was lit all the time  !@#  (interesting)
Two of the coils look a bit tired so I will order sum new ones from Mark.C
I allso found it needs two new flipper linkadg on the top set so will get thoes to.
