Flipper keeps coming loose
« on: April 23, 2011, 07:43:53 PM »
Hi all,
I had to replace a flipper on my Bally Rockmakers Em pinball, ever since, the flipper I replaced keeps coming loose
the shaft has 2 little allen head screws that hold it in place but they keep coming loose when I'm playing, meaning the flipper bat moves out of alignment first and then goes completely loose
is there some trick that I'm missing to keeping the shaft secure?

Cheers,
Benny

Common problem. Use locktite - from bunnings. Mid strength. Don't buy the permanent version. Make sure you tighten them well, but don't go overboard as a broken screw is a real problem !

this was what I was afraid of, but the loctite sounds like a good solution

Has the flipper shaft been replaced lately?
I fitted new shafts from PBR on my Jumping Jack and had the same problem.
The recessed section on the shaft (Where the grub screw grabs)has not been machined far enough down the shaft,so the screw wont bite.
Hope this makes sense.

You could always file a small flat where you can see the marks from the locking screws.
This will give the screw a nice flat surface to bite onto, instead of two high points on a diameter.
