Dolly Conversion to Skateboard theme (by John Greatwich)
« on: July 21, 2013, 01:45:11 PM »
from pinside but sure John will tune in here, this is what he has shared there:

John can be contacted here

"I have a pro lined up to do a first one for art . It's not a big name pinball artist. Since CPR seems dead on their plans, I will offer my own for 2014. I do have a playfield. Would be new playfield, back glass, & cabinet art. Price would be $1K, + shipping.
If interested stay tuned & see how it moves along towards the end of 2013."

"The theme is going to be Skate Boarding. Something I did back in the 70's when I was young & stupid, living on a steep hill. Now there are pro skate board parks at 2 of the city pools I work at. It's going to be family friendly, & still have sex appeal. There are girls that are into boarding, so its a good theme. Hopefully have it ready for Expo, where I will be doing a seminar on my glass & playfield production."

"People will be surprised at how fast custom projects can be done in 100 days! The plywood is already at the printer for cnc work (Star Gazer & Seawitch playfields). Light lenses from Marco Specialties are already on their way for these, & I have a bunch from PBR."

"SKATE BOARDS" will be the conversion title which works with Dolly Parton. The playfield will be the same layout & rule set. My donor playfield goes to the artist this week for him to do playfield art first."

"To save on costs the Bally Skateball caps & targets will be used. The artist will put the value before the target on the playfield. Probably be making new plastics as well, & the target bank will be open for cleaning (not a huge plastic)."

"I forgot to update it would be available this Fall 2013. I believe the new conversion title will be called "Skate"."

"Looking for more playfield conversion ideas on Bally pins 1978 - 1982. Let us know what title you would like changed."

Thanks! The first conversion is called "Skate". As always I would like to partner up, & try to get out more product. Either glass or playfields, for 2014.

Yea, getting out more product would be great. I see that you actually have a few backglasses and a couple playfield restoration services available finally. That's great news John.
Seems like I heard about it being "in testing" for twenty years. I know it wasn't that long, but it's great that there is an actual product you are offering these days.

I hope success takes things up a notch for you. There are several dozen if not a couple hundred titles you could almost toss a dart to choose and customers would buy them (I'm assuming).
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here.
