« on: May 15, 2012, 04:13:58 PM »
E-Maild Jim Night at Rottendog about a fault in my new 327 MPU, I have a switch matrix problem and he thinks I have a bad IC chip (74HCT240N).
Does enyone no if I can get this chip here in Australia.
Ide rather change it than send the board back to Jim to save the cost of postage..

 !*!

I'll try and give a courteous helpful reply

ED is great to deal with.  I stock up on just about everything component wise from him.

I don't think Jaycar stocks it locally.  Try HOMEPIN on here, if Mike's in the country he has heaps of pinball related components too.

Had exactly the same problem with my MPU327 ( Williams Rottendog MPUI/Driver Combo ) board.

Check this thread if youré interested.

http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?topic=5348.15

I got my 74hct240n from a guy up the road, his website is listed in that thread too.
I did go and have a look for a chip for you but cant find them. If Homepin cant find one for you get back to me and I'll have a better look.

But changing it yourself is way quicker and cheaper than sending it back to Rottendog.

No, I checked my game right over and had no none switch faults with the old boards in.  Installed the new 327 CPU and had weird switch problems. Took the 327 off then re,installed it and I had no trouble for a month. Was having a game on Flash one night and half the feature lamps on the playfield went very bright than normal. Switched the game off then back on and all was ok but two switch rows where down.

Told all this to Jim Knight and he said its probably IC17.(74HCT240N).
My Flash will play the first ball ok but once it  goes into the ball trough,, nothing...

Great work, much easier to replace the IC than having to wait for postage both ways!

Kudos to Homepin.
