Comic writers are supposed to write stories that are interesting and engaging enough so you want to by the next one and so on.
I can't see how making one of the more popular characters, of the silver age, gay is going to generate more sales.
I'm a comic fan and I won't be going anywhere near the Earth 2 book, which is a shame as everything else about the concept is awesome.
I can't see the title lasting long, as how many kids do you think will be comfortable reading about a gay hero?
Not that there is anything wrong with it..... oh wait, yes there is.
