Best Stern ever ??
« on: January 28, 2013, 01:43:03 PM »
Whether you are a STERN fan or not, I thought I would do a quick poll on what people think are >

1. the best looking Stern DMD ever ?  !@#

2. the best playing Stern ever ?  !@#

Heres a link to view some out of production games, and some current produced games.

Tell us what u think !

http://www.sternpinball.com/Games.aspx

My choice is -

1.  The best looking Stern DMD is Batman for the madest cabinet art, with Avengers Pro cabinet just behind it with a excellent translite....

2. The best playing Stern DMD is AC/DC Pro, with X Men Pro probably tied with it.....

Whats yours and why guys ?  !@# !@#

Difficult to name the best of anything as we all have our own opinion. I haven't played every Stern, but for me i'd agree on BDK for the best looking pin.
As for the best player, without having played them all, i'd take Spiderman or AC/DC.

I'd have to agree Cavey. Though I'd put ACDC slightly ahead of X-men but only just. I've had quite a few games now on a X-men LE and Pro and really like them a lot but until recently I hadn't spent much time on any of the ACDC's.
Now after playing it a few times I found it really addictive. Still couldn't work out much of the rules so I just tried to hit what was lit.

As for the best looking..... That's Tron. Still haven't played one either. Anyone know of a sighted one?

1. the best looking Stern DMD ever ?

Ironman

2. the best playing Stern ever ?

Would be between Galaxy, Meteor or Flight 2000. I'll go with Flight 2000.

Flight 2000 is the best machine that Stern has ever made.

ACDC is totally over hyped and over-rated.

SM,IM Tron, X-men, BTDK are much better games imo.

Best playing is still IM for me,
Best looking pin with LE treatment is IM
best looking cab art between X-Men and Avengers and same with the translite

X-men was almost a better player but wolverine placement was just a bit much for me
and itching to play Avengers to see if the vote changes.

For me i personally don't like ACDC , over rated expensive CD player .

LOTR is a great game .

Still looking for the best stern .

Maybe a old school pin will suit me .

I can not comment on this as I just returned to pinball after a 30 year hiatus. Ask me about any pre 1983 machine and then we are talking. The Stern of old is a totally different company to the current one.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.

Best looking imo X-Men Wolverine LE. Cabinet is stunning, so to is the mirrored backglass. Not photoshopped artwork.

Best playing is X-Men as well imo. Hopefully the next code update by Stern makes this into a truly great game.

Really enjoy BTDK as well and very nice looking pin, really like the translite on this.

1. the best looking Stern DMD ever?
- Tron. Without a doubt. The cabinet art is AMAZING on this one.

2. the best playing Stern ever?
- Personally, I love AC/DC. Love the flow of the game and the music goes with it so well. I think AC/DC is probably the best pinball machine I've ever played.

LOTR by a mile in my opinion - the game just seems like an epic adventure every time i play it - the machine i regret selling the most.

That said, i haven't played SM enough to get a good feel for it

Best looker: Tron, but I've never played one.
Best player:
1 ACDC
2 LOTR
3 Spider-Man

I also recall enjoying Freefall, Meteor and Split Second way back in the early eighties, but then my memory may be being kind!
