TAF line filter

After replacing two thermistors it looks like my line filter is shorted across active and neutral.
Anyone know if a direct replacement is available in Oz.

The only place I've been about to source them reasonably is Rockby Electronics.

Rob is correct - that Jaycar one is perfect and also cheap so I haven't bothered getting them in 'cause I could only be a dollar or so cheaper anyway.

Thermistor is in series with the line fuse.

Varistor is across the active and neutral line tabs on the EMI filter.

Do the Jaycar ones share the same footprint size as the originals? That's why I stuck with the Rockby ones as they are almost identical

Yeah Nino high current due to the short is destroying the thermistor.

No the Jaycar ones are a tad smaller, i used one of the holes to put the machine thread screw in, and a dab of silicone on the base of the filter so there is no chance of it moving, but still can be removed with some force of required down the track.

I used the plastic Jaycar EMI filter on one machine and I'll never use it again. Either use the metal versions from Rockby or GPE.

They are plastic cases. The lugs are small and the plastic case melts when you apply too much heat. I like the traditional metal cases. I use these on my restorations and repairs. I'm sure the plastic ones are ok - as they pass Australian standards - but not mine - and I'm fussy when it comes to electrical items and safety.
