guests on this site
« on: February 24, 2013, 09:42:29 AM »
I sometimes look at how many members and guests are an the forum. To my amazement like while writing this thread there can be 5 members and 17 guests. What can guests see or do on the forum and what percentage convert to members.

Finally did many members start as guests, I did 't. I registered from the start.
Still loving my Metallica Premium

Logout to see what they can see - headings and no messages as far as I can tell!

There is little point on being on the site without registering.

If you look down the bottom of the home page you can see the "users on line". When you go into this area you can see what topics everyone including the users are viewing and its not just the home page. Also if you google Aussie pinball you can go into "Recent Posts" with out logging in and read all of the latests posts on there.

As a guest you can see the topics, but not the posts in each thread. You can see the "latest threads", but not attachments or photos. Guest's have a limited access which they can see that the site is active, and if the threads interest them, then they can join.

I don't know how this website works but I know others try and "look busy" by having a script that runs that might show the guests online in the last hour for example rather than at that instant, but they imply they are online right at that point in time.

Basically the Admins don't care much for numbers
They would much prefer 5 restoration posts than 50 about the latest hollywood movie

It's a precaution against hacking/malicious code running when you view a post. Nobody can embed scrip-t if the word is replaced with stars.

100% correct. Quality, not quantity.
