Confuse or cater to a wider market?
I think the Pro, Premium and LE is an excellent business model, something for everyone. Operators, collectors etc.

I'm interested to see what the differences may be between the various models.
Pins: The Getaway, TotAN, WH2O, Pinball Magic, Banzai Run, Flintstones, Judge Dredd, Lord of the Rings LE, Metallica LE, Iron Man VE, The Walking Dead LE, Star Trek The Next Generation.

Choices seem to be welcomed by most.  Keeps all parties happy.  Stern must be listening to the market.

Even if they only sell 100 or 200 Premiums worldwide, they have the LE playfields, they have the Pro cabinets, and the only big hassle is a differnt translite which they tend to crete extra versions when they work out the shortlist of approved translites anyway for the Pro model.
A small bit of printing, and all of a sudden, they can invent a new model out of existing parts. Smart I thought if it brings in extra income for the company.

Doesnt that Large Duck Chair Toy look unreal. Makes the bell on ACDC seem quite tame now.lol (even painted Gold.lol)  %.%

I went to Stern's Youtube video channel out of curiosity and took a screen shot of their video list since avengers release and starting to think Metallic could do way better than AC/DC

AC/DC teaser since release over a year ago has had close to 55000 view

Metallica tease since 30hrs ago has nearly 53000 views

There potentially could be so many Metallica music fans in their 40's cashed up and ready to pop on the ultimate band collectible and never had a pin before.

Based on certified albus sales AC/DC is 2:1 over Metallica but then again, The Rolling Stones are neck and neck with AC/DC in album sales but their pinball was not a big hit. Hard to say but there was certainly a lot of anticipation for Metallica. Once people get to sample the baked product it may well become a best seller.

The probable sceairio is that this will be a better pin in some ways compared to ACDC because Stern will take all the good feedback from ACDC and use those good points, get rid of any points the market didnt like, and produce something that previous non music pinball peoples will now like in a pinny.

It will be like X Men, not a title/theme hugely great in itself, but a balanced and well thought out pinball machine which will get you to buy once u play it and see how good a player it is. At the same time Stern is ratcheting up its designs and toys n level of fun/features. How can the public not like all of this.

If Metallica is a well thought out John Borg design, wrapped around another music theme, it should do really well, plus these are Stern titles that can be sited n pull coin.

It wouldnt surprise me if Stern does a string of different music pins and cashes in on the demand and popularity. Exciting times.  ^^^

My point was that a lot of those views would be from band fans as a lot of music websites are stating that Metallica are getting there own pin along with a video link so it is getting so much more exposure compared to the last 3 different themes. These potential buyers arent going to care about previous pins but be focused on the music used and the well known art of that Metallica is known for.

I also think fans of metallic and kiss live the music and are cashed up and this would be there ultimate toy compared to RS fans.

I think the art potential is much bigger for this one compared to RS and AC/DC from a creative stand point

Now i am probably going to get crucified for saying this but today i intentionally listened to all of the Metallica songs proposed for the pin. And i have to say im not convinced they will match playing a pin, some for me were to slow like Unforgiven, Sad but True, Fade to Black and One (over the first half anyway) and others i felt were to fast like Fuel, Master of Puppets, Battery and End of the line.

In saying that i could really picture getting into Creeping death, for whom the bell tolls and Enter Sandman.

Now i listened to these songs purely thinking about playing pinball with them, and i have to be honest i can't see it. I like Metallica and the songs are good (well at least half of them) but the beat of most of thier music just does not flow with a pinball in my mind. This is purely an observation and i hope i am wrong.

I was a Metallica fan in high school and thought I'd listen to Metallica on the way to work the other day to see if I could imagine how it would go with playing pinball. Battery came on and I had a chuckle. That's going to be some crazy playing going on right there and I can imagine my girlfriend telling me to turn it down if I bought one. Haha.

Yep, time to start saving.

I wonder if there will be other band pins to come from stern, jjp or whoever?

This Metallica pin has me so interested I might just buy one.

I would love a pin from a band I am a fan of but seeing as most of my fav bands are that damn obscure most people would have never heard of them I doubt it very much.

This may be as good as it gets for me.

Sorry hard to post photos from a iPad, have fun searching and stern's web page s down so must be updating.

One great thing foe the guys that will buy this ss and wire forms are on all three versions.
