multiball techniques
« on: April 22, 2013, 11:21:53 PM »
I've been watching a few videos of expert players and I have noticed they tend to try and trap as many balls on one flipper and play a single ball with the other. Ive tried this technique with mixed results, mainly ordinary outcomes.

My tech in playing multiball is trying to keep all balls moving and trying to max the scoring with the mayhem I try to cause with the balls whizzing around all over the place. Seems to work for me.

Are there other methods people employ or am I just playing it like an amateur?

If its a two or three ball multiball I try and trap them if I can but I never seem to be able to keep'em trapped for to long as the one ball I have in play inadvertently always ends up going to the flipper I have the other balls trapped on.
Any more than three ball multiball and all bets are off. I just try and keep them moving and hope for the best.

I keep all balls in play and only trap a ball for a wait on a specific shot. Multiball can be a mayhem of shots as balls knock each other so sometimes specific shots can stuff up.
I find it best not to focus on the flippers but keep your eyes about mid field to keep multiballs in play longer.
The way you play multiballs also depends on the machine you play. On earlier machines it was much more difficult to get and then keep multiball in play.

Generally try to keep all the balls in action, catching 1,2or 3 on occasion to refocus what shots to take

Interesting topic, as its something i have tried as well.

It would be good to do a proper trial with say 10 games with trapping, and 10 games without.  But my gut feeling for myself is that i seem to be able to score more jackpots by keeping them all in motion most of the time.  Often the effort to go towards trapping leads to a drain.  I've noticed that on a lot of the PAPA videos where people trap (or try to), they often only get one jackpot - whereas much of the time with keeping them going i can get 2 or 3 on the same game

my exact observation. Even when I try I find it difficult to get a long multiball going. I have found I can save a lot of drains by purposely hitting balls into each other.
