The way they have changed the V8 Supercars has destroyed it IMO. They are all IDENTICAL cars just with different engines and fibreglass body panels - wank! What't the point of having identical chassis, brakes etc - pathetic.

whats this new HSV weigh, 1450 to 1550 in manual form , or heavier ?

I know Homologation for Bathurst racing weight used to be 1400 kg's. Maybe its a tad lighter today.
Get one of those new HSV Monsters, strip it out for a track like Bathurst, and maybe the reason they (GM) are building 500 is to get past homologation rules and get the new HSV 6.2 litre motors into the V8 Supercars etc, but I don't know what the Parity rules with making Fords n Holdens equal on the track will do to it/allow it or not ?... but I bet u see it racing in the Bathurst 24 hour for sure, and perhaps a few other places with manual box ofcourse.

Whats Ford cooking up I wonder ? It will be brutal as well I reckon. Happy heavy right foot days !

I agree somewhat Mike for sure.

What I don't like about the V8 Supercar racing at the moment, is that its easier and more time beneficial to just let someone overtake you, than it is to drive defensively and try n keep your place. So effectively, now, the cars n drivers aren't really racing each other, but they are just racing their own clocks, racing for their own great lap times etc, and hope to pick up positions that u meaningly give away for the reason just mentioned, and win back that time in the pits.

So now, its become a little bit clinical. My wife prays for rain everytime they race, cause the only thing apparently that interest women with car racing, is watching all the big smashes and the looks on all the disappointed mens faces.lol  Evil wife.lol  %.%

I still watch the V8s everytime they go out, but its become very technical, and sometimes its still excellent seat of your pants, but I hope it gets better this year and next for sure.

So you work the night shift and sleep during the day when the races are on.

There is some more info on the GTS here
http://www.themotorreport.com.au/#/56530/2014-hsv-gts-gen-f-holden-special-vehicles-revealed

See how a Nurburgring lap time of 7m 41s compares with other cars
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N%C3%BCrburgring_Nordschleife_lap_times

This beast with the right driver is right up the Nissan GTR or Porche 911 alley.
One car to take seriously is also the Dodge Viper. Holy crap, for an overweight American V10 that thing makes others eat dust and rubber pieces.

Nurburgring is a great track to separate the men from the boys.

How do you come to that conclusion ?

I see the Nissan GTR with a time of 7-24, in semi-wet conditions. Quite a bit away from the 7-41.

don't forget also the Holden HSV is fighting against cars 3 and 4 times its price, and the HSV is shaped
like a family sedan, unlike almost every thing else which is a 2 door sports car, small and low.
You would think this new HSV is the new GTHO Phase 3 of today in my mind.
Very fast for a mass produced family sized production floor plan.

that makes the HSV absolutely awesome and its punching very well.

only if we had the german auto-bahns here, you could take it for a proper flogging
and not lose the car or licence to the coppers/revenue raisers.lol

I count about 22 corners where heavy braking and hard acceleration is required. The new torque vectoring should give a second or so gain per corner. Masses of torque are handy as shown by the Viper times. If that torque can be delivered effectively to the correct back wheel, we should see some interesting lap times.

In regards to the 95K price tag, they are now saying that the price will not exceed that amount. GMH said last week that they will slash prices by 10K on the new Commodore range. I wonder if that discount flows through to HSV?

Actually I would like to see the GTS on the twists and bends rather than on the autobahns. The Chrysler press release link below shows a nice video of how to eat up 20 km in just over 7 minutes. That Viper sounds mean and that driver sure has guts, the thing is about to take off on the long straight.
Just hope that HSV use this track to see what the GTS can do.

that dodge has been fully mucked around with by racing teams, like a V8 supercar its hardly the same anymore,
I would like to see real production cars times only, would be fairer against the stock but mighty 95 grand HSV

thanks for listing the video etc

Pinballs and cars (or bikes) have a connection there. Ironman should add some pinballs to his collection.
You have both in man caves, they are collectables,  they can be restored, played, traded, swapped,  hated, loved and admired. So long as your wife/husband/partner agree to your lust for machines, you have no problems.
