Hate to be the one to break it to you, but that board needs some professional help.

Someone has replaced the old, leaky battery but neglected to clean the damage.
This means the corrosion has not been properly arrested.  @.@

Also, Welcome to the forum. %)%
Yep It needs all that corrosion removed and nearly all the components in that photo need to be replaced ( there is corrosion on nearly every leg)
the solder through pads need to have the solder removed  and the corrosion neutralised also.

Just remember, only doing the ground mods without neutralising the corrosion on the MPU won't be enough to get you a reliable game.

A guy called Fred, fretto1@gmail.com has recently remade the whole sys80 board range, 80, 80a, 80b.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k8AiGRQV_aQ

or pinball resource have NOS 80b boards.

Or send your board to Beaky as Ken doesn't accept Gottlieb boards.

Good call. ^^^ While I was dropping a board off to Beaky recently he showed me some boards with acid damage he was repairing. Very impressive how far he goes to repair them.

Ive been told by a few people that beaky is very good. The machine still played but has a few niggly probs. I want to site it at the Stroud pub when its fixed, and i dont want it to be playing up all the time.

(Any ideas are welcome) heres a couple of pics of the cpu

strange that all 3 blow their fuse.
do they energies first before blowing the fuses?
did they lock on before they stopped working?
check the diodes on the coils
check that the coils haven burned out

if they are locking on when you power up the machine (with new fuses) then check that all the boards are grounded properly.
might be a bad DC ground (pin 6 on the pop bumper driver boards which is used for the pop bumper switch and electronic components on the pop bumper driver board ) i am looking at another system 80b schematic and from the schematic it looks like the ground that goes to pin 6 on each driver board is daisy chained.
The other ground that is used to ground the coils has an individual wire that goes to each bumper driver board (pin 2) if that make sense

so pin 6 logic ground for pop bumper switch and pop bumper driver board components is daisy chained
and pin 2 coil ground is not daisy chained

The schematic I was looking at has a a fuse for each pop bumper ( it is for a raven) does your machine have 1 fuse for each pop bumper or 1 fuse for all the pop bumpers?

Well ive worked out that auto reset fuses dont help me here. ive gone. ack to puting one slow blow fuse in at a time and each time the rvant popper coil locked on and then it blows. i havnt checked the diodes yet. but im thinking even though each pop bumper has its own driver board its something in common with all of them.
