Gottlieb Diamond Lady problem

 Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me out here? The problem. Sometimes when I lose a ball the lights all stay on but the machine wont kick the next ball out, its like the playfield is dead. flippers dont even work. If I turn the machine off and back on it will reset the playfield but wont let you play. If i leave it for a few hours it will sometimes let you play a game, but can do the same thing again. Any help would be apreciated

Remove the playfield glass and when it next happens, check if the machine scores when you hit targets etc manually
Is the background sounds still playing ?

It could be the ball trough switches need adjustment.

Im not sure whats happening with this machine, seems to be a ghost in it, now the right side drop targets dont reset and the score board is lighting up differently.

Im not into electronics and really wish I knew what you guys were trying to tell me. I think I need someone to look at it. Do you think it would be an expensive repair?

Not an expensive repair at all. Hopefully someone in your area will chime in and be able to do the work for you. As a standard on all SYS80 machines ;

All fuses need to be checked for correct value
The ground boards near the transformer assy need to be resoldered.
All boards in the head need Ground wires back to the Transformer assembly.
Filter cap needs to be replaced.

It is all fairly straight forward - no more than an hour or two's work.

Thanks for explaining it in a bit more detail. Would it help if I had a manual and schematic for it, Or am I better to leave it to someone who knows what to do as im a bit scared that i'll do more damage than good. I think i need to see what to do before i feel any confidence in attempting it.

The time estimated here is spot on for some who knows what they are doing. if a tech tries to charge you more than this for the above mods / repairs then they need more experience.

Ok I thik I've found something else that might be a contributing factor to my lady's problem, (see pic). I know this sort of thing stops my kids toys from working, so i'm guessing the same in my machine. Is the filter cap the one near the transformer? Can one of you give me advice on where to get (or sell me) new fuses, cap and a manual?

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but that board needs some professional help.

Someone has replaced the old, leaky battery but neglected to clean the damage.
This means the corrosion has not been properly arrested. 

Also, Welcome to the forum.
