Bumper shank screws into clearcoat
« on: September 23, 2013, 01:09:04 AM »
Its probably ovbvious to everyone except me but is there a trick to installing pop bumper shank screws into a heavy clearcoat ?
Digging a hole at the top first with a countersink is the only way I can see it working?

That's what I've done. Just don't try to use a standard drill bit as the area you countersink won't be an even circle.  Countersink with one of these instead.

The holes will then be nice and round and even.

Thanks for the pics.  Makes perfect sense.  pinside dudes told me about forstner bits as an option too.    Im going to get both and see if i can cock it up royally at least two ways hah.
Used to be so much easier just belting them in .. that whacky clearcoat is a troublemaker.
