A couple of odd coincidences in the last couple of days makes me wonder....
My wife's cousin, with whom she was closer than her many other local cousins, sadly passed away last week at only 49 after a long illness. He had a kidney transplant some years ago, but still required dialysis however his heart could not take the treatment any longer, and passed away peacefully.
His funeral service was the most beautiful I have attended, and the largest Basilica in the city was standing room only, testament to his kind hearted ways.
The evening after his funeral I was talking to my mother about the extended family and many cousins on my wife's side and the high level of contact, and as our family is limited to just my parents who came to Australia in the 1950's, the complete lack of any contact with my extended family who mostly live in Europe......and it is extended - three children in my father's family with a number of children, and 14 (yes 14!!) children in my mothers family, so there are dozens and dozens of cousins with whom I have had no contact, or extremely limited contact.
That evening, his sister who had been awaiting a kidney transplant for many, many years, received a call that a kidney was available.....
The next morning the wife of one of my cousins messaged me on facebook......
Of course, I said what a wonderful pair of coincidences.....
My wife on the other hand tells me her cousin, always the most generous with his time for others, is still sorting out some things for his extended family before he leaves for the better place.....
Whatever your beliefs, it does give you pause to think..............
