I may have aproblem on my Addams
« on: October 31, 2013, 12:44:47 AM »
Hi,
I think I have a problem, can anyone help? I'm sure in the past the swamp used to throw a ball out during Quick Multiball, the sound and lights flash, then nothing comes out, few seconds later something clicks under the play  !@#field and a ball is fed into the plunger gulley!!

Does the ball finally get kicked out of the swamp ?

I think you have a faulty switch in the swamp. From memory, there are three switches. Go into the setup / diagnostics and select "tests" and then advance to "switch edge test". Then pop the playfield and manually activate each switch in accordance with the switch matrix page of your manual. One of the switches may need to be adjusted.

Will give it a go, the ball doesn't eventually come out of the Swamp! Self test on start up doesn't give any reports either.

Cheers

Hi,
Looked and tested the switch (3 off) on the swamp kick out assy, transfer etc and all working and looking ok, with no obvious signs of any switches catching on anything. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Look for a loose wire from the coil.

Go into the setup menu and select "solenoid test" and advance through the coils until you reach the swamp coil. Does it fire ?

Sounds to me like it could be a loose wire or faulty coil / transistor.

When does the lost ball come out of the kick out? Does the ball kick out normally when you drop into the swamp? Does the ball kick out normally when entering the kick out from the playfield? Does show time multiball work normally?
Just me but I would run these processes as well as the quickmulti ball manually with the game sound turned down. You should be able to see and hear the assembly through the coin door to see if the transfer solenoid fires etc. (maybe a small mirror will help) Finding where the ball is stuck may help you diagnose the problem. You would need to tape the coin door switch closed of course.

Also check if the ball shoots out of the thing solenoid kicker to the plastic subway next to the thing box up the back.  The coil holder was broken on my machine and its been broken in a few pictures I have seen of this machine. Must be a common issue. You could easily check it by manually running quick multiball listen for the thing solenoid and then you should seen the ball pass through the swamp to the lock assembly. You may need to remove the swamp plastic. If the ball makes it to lock assembly but the transfer solenoid does not fire-check the switch edges again by rolling a ball down the swamp to see if the switch triggers. You can also go to single switch test mode and select the switches individually to test the 3 switches by rolling a ball down. I have found some times the switches will trigger manually by pushing it but not when a ball is run over it in normal play.

Good Advice, mine plays up a bit also, "Thing" solenoid seems to be the main issue  ^^^
