Backglass clear coat?

Had my elektra back glass out today. I noticed some one had put sticky tape on the bottom of the art work. Also you can notice the paint lifting of the glass at the top of the glass.

My question is do I clear coat it or not.

What do I do with the sticky tape on the bottom.

What type of clear coat should I use.

Any help would be great.

I've been using this for over 10 years and never had an issue.

don't remove any sticky tape etc - as this was most likely used to hold the backglass art together. Removing it will remove the paint.

Triple thick glaze is the best by far. Get it at most artist and craft suppliers for about $18 (I think). Check youtube for correct application to backglass. A can should do 3 or 4 backglasses if you apply 3 -4 light  coats criss-crossed. You will preserve the backglass for at least 20 years or more.

Heading to the big smoke in the next week any body no were in Melbourne you can buy it.

+1. I have used triple thick on several glasses with no dramas at all.

Agree with all the above, Kylon triple thick is the way to go, can spray on several good thick coats

Thanks heaps guys. There is one in cbd melb i will pick it up next week. Hope they have it other wise I will order of Internet.

Another question. Do I cover the clear glass were the displays are or do I just spray the whole glass. What is the reason behind covering the display sections.

I will give it lots of coats in different directions. Any other tips I need to know.

It also has a lot  of Rust on the bottom not sure what I should do with the rust.

Cover the display area before spraying.. if you spray over them you get ripples etc when you look at the displays... your CC isn't as clear as glass

Make sure you spray in a clean and well ventilated area. This stuff is highly flamable so put out any fags.
