Pinball Documentary at my place...
« on: January 04, 2014, 10:15:24 PM »
So this morning had a phone call from the local ABC radio journo who asked if they could do a bit of a story about the hobby and my collection.  A couple of them came out this arvo for a chat and want to do a short online video feature!!

They were pretty good about it and genuinely interested in the hobby. Basically they want to get a few shots of my collection, some info about the machines and hobby in general, as well as some of the repairs, maintenance and other issues, plus some interesting footage of gameplay.

So they did ask if i wanted anything in particular included, or any ideas for types of shots etc - any suggestions from anyone - filming is in 2 weeks time, which means i have quite a few issues to sort out so all machines in the games room are running!

PS Mike - they really got interested about Thunderbirds and a (very) local manufacturer, so i directed them to your website - maybe expect some contact at some point!

Great news! Hope to see a link when this comes out, amazing how pinball has become so popular again.

Good stuff with the Thunderbirds mention.  ^^^

Great phone call. Says something about the full circle that pinball has made from near demise to a thriving collector passion. Cant wait to see the end result.

I would tee up one of the residing possums for a commentary on how their homes have been converted into pinball machines  %.%

Seriously, I would emphasize that the "pinball comeback" started 5-7 years ago and the media are starting to catch up now. Pinball is affordable and not the domain of a handful of technical people that work for resellers that charge an "arm and a leg" for the privilege of owning a pinball !

I've got a website to put my possum restores up on and found me through google.  The reporter was definitely into them as she said she played heaps at Uni - she knew quite a few different games and rules/modes etc which was pretty good to see!

Thanks for the suggestions so far - Nino - i'm keen to try and get a possum reference in there somehow!!

ABC have put this online now. Managed to give the forums a plug, they cut the bit out about Thunderbirds, but there is a quick shot of one of Mike's CPU boards...
