Is there something wrong with P S P A?
« on: January 08, 2014, 09:06:35 PM »
Not trying to stir anyone up here but is there a problem with P S P A?
I use them occasionally for convenience and I have mentioned them in posts but I am normally met with deafening silence.

I am not sure how to find the sponsors page so I don't know if they are a sponsor or not (I suspect not).
I know when I joined AP Mark C was mentioned constantly (not in a bad way)

Like I said not trying to make trouble and if there is some reason I should be avoiding them then I would like to know.

The silence is getting louder.

I think it would be fair to say that PSPA are no longer involved with this forum or the other one and it should probably be left at that.  PSPA have a facebook page if you want to keep in touch or up to date with what is going on there.

Well said.

We have a sponsor here (RTBB) who has great stock, is a great guy and is well priced. Supporting the forum sponsors is a great way to support the forum.

I've got no problem going to a sponsor first in fact I go to RTBB first time every time, but if they don't have the product or simply aren't open for business what then?
I am sure that Bunnings, Mitre10, Pinballlife aren't sponsors but their name is not blanked out when entered in a post.
If a business that is not a sponsor has a good product at a good price, is there a problem mentioning the product and where to get it from to help out fellow members?

I purchase parts regularly from all of the major Victorian pinball parts suppliers (P S P A, MrPinball, RTBB) and have had no major problems with any of them.

Whoever supplies the product coupled with the best service at the best price gets my money.

Plus it simply isn't practical to only use one domestic supplier, as none of them individually carry everything you may need in terms of spare parts.

If you don't have competition businesses can dictate high prices...

I am new to the forum and would like to know why they are blanked out when other suppliers are not.

I have used several suppliers both from the forum sponsors and those that I believed offered the best product.

Simon.

Everyone is free to shop where they like. I am very much in favour of honest competition, it leads to innovation and is good for the consumer.

As I said, supporting current sponsors is of course encouraged.

Nino may have something to say on this tomorrow, so thread closed until he is available.

Admins try not to edit or remove links to non-sponsor business websites made by members (if those members are not associated with or employed by non-sponsor businesses).

Like everything, it is a balance, and we cannot please everyone every time, but aim to find the best position we can in the circumstances.

We acted previously on complaints from paid up sponsors and members, that employees or members associated with businesses that were NOT sponsors were posting links. These associates or employees were generally initially asked to stop, or their accounts removed if they persisted.

Surely it is unfair on current sponsors if non-sponsors are able to “back door” advertising on the forum by encouraging associates or employees to promote them on the forum?

Given that the problem now appears to have been dealt with, we can remove the filter that was introduced to combat the issue.

Aussie Pinball will continue to support the businesses that support Aussie Pinball, and hope that members will continue to support those businesses as well.
