This area has the most paint loss , luckily there is a Joker on the other side of the PF so hopefully I can redo the text using a technique in Clay's restoration guides

and what would you guys do with this area ? I'm thinking touch up the red (and black outline) but leave the varnished area as is, otherwise if I redo that I have to sand back and redo all the varrnished areas  ^&^

All the inserts have sunken , (15 of them) so will have to remove and reposition them (again never done this before but have read how)

Any comments please .. if this was your playfield how would you do it ?

Heating them up from the bottom with a hair dryer and gently tap them into place worked well for me. Just hold a flat block ontop and tap it up to the block

Tks Daniel .

The question "if this was your playfield how would you do it" is probably a bit misleading .. what I meant was would you touch up all the areas I shown in the pics ? and how would you do it ?
I know the answer is partly "how far do you want to go" and I'm keeping in mind the theory the less touchups the better

Cheers
Dave

Yep .. and I am seriously thinking about it. I am so tempted to put it all back together (when I get the parts) and play it . I've never played a game on it yet but expect it will be a keeper

Finally bit the bullet and removed all the playfield inserts today (15 of) .. unfortunately about 15% of the side of one broke, but it should be Ok to go back in.
Have decided to cheat and leave them out while I do the playfield touchups.
Next jobs on this game are playfield touchups and cabinet repaint.
Will post some progress pics of that when I do it.
Have already got all the new parts I need for this game and am itching to put it all back together so i can play it for the 1st ever time,  && but keep telling myself to finish the cosmetic work first  *%*

You are doing a great job. Don’t be afraid to do touchups. If you use artists acrylic u can easily wash off what u don’t like. Aim for 0, 00, 000 taklon brushes. I would also remove the old lacquer on the wood around the flippers and bumpers. If you use an old fashioned shaving blade it comes off easily. Here is a result:
