Yep, Corio Theatre (which was owned by Village at that stage) was in Corio Street. That part of Corio Street is now within the Market Square Building. I remember seeing Jaws there, so as that was I guess 1977 and the demolition was sometime later, I think it would have been early 1980's from memory. It was a very large cinema, Art Deco style, with a balcony area (which was also useful for us kids to drop Jaffas from onto the heads of the patrons in the stalls!

Pix was in Elizabeth Street Geelong West (near where I grew up), and was a favorite of mine as a kid. The building is still there - when the Village Twin was to be redeveloped into the now Village 11, they bought the Pix and used it for that period. It's in a Residential 1 zone, so had "Use Rights" allowing it to be used for that purpose. Then after the 11 cinema complex was reopened, Village left it vacant for a few years - I assumed that was so the use rights lapsed (if unused for the purpose for which use rights exist for more than two years, the rights are lost). Clever way to remove a potential competitor venue I guess. It now operates as a dance studio I think.
Finally, to tie this into a pinball theme, 11 or 12 years ago the Village 11 was where I stumbled across AFM for the very first time on a lunch break (and got back to work *very* late that day!)
