New decals for my BSD
« on: February 27, 2014, 11:16:39 AM »
So got sick of the washed out BSD decals and pulled them off and put the fresh ones on, so nice to see red again.. Also threw on the custom internal decals.. Will post some pics of the machine when together.. Between this, LEDs and the nice shiny lexan playfield protector it is looking very nice..

Spacies, who is that?

Yeah only problem is they are really high gloss so show up any slight imperfect, really need to take your time..

Agreed skywalker, I just love how red they are...  $#$

I have two more of my pinnies to do after this, getting too much experience with decals, lol.. Obsessed with having them perfect  ^&^

I can never sell my BSD, apart from being the best pinball every made (IMO of course) :P I have poured way too much money into it, have Colordmd running Sigma too..

P.S. Homepin your opto PCB for the BSD was a godsend, it used to randomly play up, no real pattern to it, but your board fixed her right up..

Did you fit the artwork dry & does the cab need to be resealed prior, got artwork for mine, just working up the courage  #@#

With this one I decided to sand the living hell out of it with the orbital sander (after getting the old decals off) and put them on dry to the bare wood and it seems to work fine.. Though when I do the next one I think I will seal with poly urethane sealant..

Otherwise I do them like this guy, sticking a bit first and slowly peeling back, dry...

Any tips for the decal application? I'm getting close to installing my first ones and get more nervous as the day draws near !@#

prep prep and more prep.. It really comes down to how well you prep the surface.. I start on 80 grit sand paper with orbital sander and work at it for ages to get all that glue residue off, how much work you do there makes the biggest difference in my experience...
