I believe Pinside was a big reason for the re-run as there has been alot of subjects of IM on there with a large interested party pushing that it would do well. Interestingly I sent a email to Bruce and Norbert yesterday morning at 7.20am in which I got a quick response from both stating they knew nothing about it. It was only around 8.30am did the info come through from Stern. So Stern kept the major Aussie Distributor in the dark when it was already selling in the US.

World on Pinside is all the US dealers have sold out already and the rumoured first batch is around 400 and people are hoping for another run later on???

Yeah it's selling very fast overseas and I've heard only 20 allocated to Australia? You better get one Jady and fast  ^^^

Same thing happened with the last (I won't say final %$%) run of Spiderman back in 2010.

An 80 pound gorilla Stern distributor in the States (Betson Amusements for example) puts in an order for say <100 machines and then Stern puts out a press release across the global distro channels to prompt some interest and get the run up to an acceptable minimum number to make it worthwhile. Stern makes some minor cosmetic changes to differentiate them from the previous runs (perception of value adding) then pushes the snowball off the top of the mountain, and stands back to watch.

The smaller distros are then in effect piggybacking off the gorilla due to perceived buyer panic (losing out on securing stock on a small run of machines). This is how Joe at KJWHF in Perth and AMD in Sydney were able to secure the webbed siderail version of Spiderman back in 2010.

It is strictly a business decision to keep the VIP customer happy.

Webbed siderails is the main one (only on that run and no other), metal apron (they went to plastic on 2nd run and then back to metal on 2010 run), and I think proper playfield support brackets (plastic pegs on 2nd run and back to support brackets on 2010).

They put out a list when they were released, but don't have ready access to it right now.

the game is technically basic in toys and layout compared to say Star Trek but now is the most expensive ever Stern Pro as it includes the latest $100USD passed on Stern price increase now costing $7.1k.

The chasm between US and Aus pricing continues to grow wider regardless of US/Aus dollar fluctuations.  #@#

Advertised priced in the US:

Plus after making inquiries to a handful of distros in the US, the best 'under the table' price I have found is in the high fours (was asked not to disclose exact price publicly due to undercutting).

How much do you pay for freight?

By my math once you take exchange rate, GST and shipping rates (including port charges) you'd only save a few hundred bucks - and with no local warranty.

What am I missing here?
