Buying My First Pinball Machine
« on: January 19, 2015, 09:32:00 PM »
Hi Guys,

I am hoping to buy my first machine soon, i have been looking at pinball warehouse and i think ill stick with them as Tony has been very helpful with my questions. but i am not completely sure which one to get :/
  • Lethal Weapon   *
    X Files
    No Good Golfers   *
    Dirty Harry
    Corvette
    Elvis  *
    Soprano's  *
    Cueball Wizard
    High Roller Casino
    Tales from the Crypt   *
    Fish Tales  *
    Space Jam

These are the ones in stock currently, and i have placed an asterisk beside the machines i am interested in, i am hoping to site it at my Aunts pub to make a little extra money, The Fish Tales i believe is faded (As most seem to be) but i am able to apply vinyl decals to the cabinet, i was wondering if the forum could possibly add some suggestions and help me pick which machine, i have just got into the hobby and have not played many machines so i don't really know much. Thanks guys!

What is your budget?

Strictly a pub machine - Lethal Weapon or Fish Tales (don't worry about the decals in this case).

Out of those I would consider Corvette to be the best bang for buck game.  Great sound, very fast and fun to play

Well I know PWH had a couple of Sopranos recently. One in good nic and one a bit banged up. You should be able to get the latter for 4k but what is the objective? To get a pin you like or to site it at a pub to make money? The two can sometimes be mutually exclusive.

Higher costing machines don't always translate to making higher revenue onsite. Sometimes a machine that is well maintained is all you need.

My 2c.

I'll go to a pub and put coin through Soprano's or Tales From the Crypt for you.  ;-)

Only problem being the pub is in Lake Cargelligo, possibly being a small town it won't make money but that's okay I'll just bring it home :)

Or spend a lot more time at the pub....

High Roller Casino isn't a bad game, what do they have on that?

3k mate, I personally like a bright pinball table, and that machine just seemed a it to dark for me.

there is a lethal weapon on gumtree for $1000 at the moment.
lethal weapon is average at best but would suit a pub

fish tales, lethal weapon or tales from the crypt would be my pick for a pub
I remember all three of those titles were in regular pins in pubs in the day,

My pick would be the No Good Gofers. A Pat designed game so you know it's going to be well thought out, good gameplay. Late model, doesn't look as bad as others when it's faded. If your after reliability, good for the System 3 Cueball Wizard. That one is a good earner as well.

+1 FT is the best choice as it is very addictive and short ball times!

There's a nice Fish Tales on Gumtree in Wagga at the moment for $4500.

Lake Cargellico. Dang! I might have to have a game in Wagga before you take it over.

Cheers!
Adam.
