« on: January 27, 2015, 01:26:38 PM »
..... I have tried to upload a picture to my profile. ... I use the BROWSE direction, get the pic I want from 'my pictures' and click on 'open'. Then I click on 'change profile' ..... but I still can't get the picture to show up on my profile. What am I doing wrong??? ..... still computer illiterate after all these years!!

This one is easy cause it has happened to me before.

The "file size" of the photo/picture that you are trying to upload exceeds the maximum size of the photo allowed.
If u try to upload a different photo and it's allowed, the photo will appear. If the photo doesn't appear and you get a small empty small square, then the photo is simply too large on size wise. One of the mods will know the exact file size but on threads it is 2048kb. It may be the same for uploading your profile picture.

Change to a different photo and one will load if the size is allowable ! This shld fix your problem.

Use a photo hosting site like photobucket to store all your photos and it won't matter what size the photo is.  ^^^

You simply upload your photos to a site like photobucket (for example) and then link to them in your post using the image icon above this text (the third icon after the youtube link when you type a reply).

Thank you guys. I'll try to send a 'cropped' photo. These are in a folder which I use to put photos which have successfully been sent/received through my email. .... I'll let you know. ........
Also, to Pinsanity .... I tried a few things to fix my ping, which I'll tell you about on that thread. .... Needless to say, .... it didn't work.  ... but more on that when I get a chance. Thanks again.

As you can see, your advice worked and I now have a picture on my profile. .... This is the playfield of Ace High. .... I restored this machine a few years ago. .... It was in a multi-player cabinet when I bought it. I took to this cabinet with a circular saw, and made it the same size as a 50s single player cab. I remember this playfield being 'on the bench' for 5 months while we restored the art work. If you've ever looked at playfields of this game, most of them are absolutely wrecked. ..... mainly because the game was such a 'player's game' that they all got flogged to the point of wearing out. ... also, the machine was made in 1957 so it's been around a while.
..... I'm excited today as Nino has said that my repo backglass for this game has arrived at his place. I can't wait to see it and put it in this true Gottlieb classic. For those of you who have not played a game on this machine, ..... you're invited to come round and try it. If you think 50s games aren't very good, then this will change your mind about that idea. This is one of the most interesting and exciting pinballs that you will ever play. .... as you can see by the pic, ....it's all about the targets (and then the gobble holes).

I noticed this game features nice women on the playfield.
Does anyone know for interest if a pinball manufacturer back in this era ever released a pinball machine with naked or topless artwork of sexy women.
I only ask the question cause I am guessing that pinball in this era was designed solely or mostly for mature men to play in various adult only or heavily influenced men style bars or pubs or out the back type European or American type places.
If such a pinball machine exists, I am guessing they might be super rare or very limited in custom numbers and may be worth a lot of money ?
Is anyone on here a expert of this artwork and era ?

Always wondered if any manufacturer ever pushed the limits of female artwork for men only type of enjoyment ? ?

Not much was allowed in the way of "risqué" artwork... everything was subject to approval and the moral code was upheld..... you have to remember that pinball was nearly always on the verge of being banned so to put nude women in the artwork would have been a nail in the coffin.

There are however small "incidences" that slipped through and were deliberate attempts to get a mans heart rate up a little when playing the machine... all of course was done in pure innocence   #@# #@#. To show a breast would have caused outrage.

But... if you look at Genco's 1948 TRIPLE ACTION playfield the 2 posts positions on the ladies are strategically placed to give the illusion of a 3D breast... when standing playing the machine, these line up perfectly over the breast... its a post right?? At first glance though.. the player was forced to take a 2nd look.

Williams 1954 SPITFIRE has the lady on the left with one leg cocked... the eye is drawn to between her thighs. If in any doubt, the lady on the right has the gun positioned over the genital area but the handle of the gun faces the lady on the right... again, drawing the eye to between her legs as does the horse on the left... still in doubt?? Theres a guy in the background emulating your face as you realise that you can ALMOST see between her legs!

And that is about as risky as it got... not much by todays standard but still clever and subtle incidences that allow some form of titillation.
Pinball artwork of this era is riddled with them... now you know how to view them, you find them all over the place!

Yes, the women on Ace High are pretty hot. .... If you want to see more pics of this machine, then I have done a thread on this forum.... It's in the 'Restoration' section. .... From memory it would be called Ace High Restoration. ...... I hope you track it down and check the pics ..... you won't believe the Before and After pics of this playfield, ..... and the cabinet too was a big effort.
......... After all this was done, I believe that I have the closest version of the cab artwork of ANY Ace High that I've ever seen. Most, if not all the pics on IPBD are not original, if you look closely. Although there are a few minor differences on the playfield art (the white in the Gottlieb sign could have been a 'creamier' colour), it is also the closest to original of any game on the net. Mostly, the Q, K, A for the targets have been put back in plain black. The colours you see on my playfield are what it was like when it was new.
.......... I really love this game. It plays so well, both physically and 'with your head'. .... Like all great Gottlieb single player games, you somehow always feel like you're in with a chance, even if it's been a pretty ordinary game. ... by the time you get to last ball, you somehow feel like you're close to score, or target Specials, or the Rollover Special where the ball drains. ...... Like the old saying goes ..."they just don't make 'em like that anymore".
.......... People on this forum are welcome to call me (02 4328 1016) to make a time to come and give it some stick. I live 5 mins from Gosford station, if you are ever up (or down) this way. Cheers, Mark
