Waxing on playfield with planking

Have a playfield with planking or distinct vertical lines running down it like cracks. Is it advisable to wax this or will it 1. cause further planking or problems and/or 2. make the cracks/planking look more pronounced?

I have novus 2ed the playfield so its quite shiney but then I usually will wax.

I think rob is referring to the effect of the wood expanding due to moisture, and causing lines to appear down the playfield. Very common on machines I've seen with predominantly black playfields. Waxing does seem to improve the appearance, to the point of "filling" the cracks somewhat and I can't see it doing any damage. I wax "planked" playfields.

Hard to tell in your pic ddtoys, I'll try to post a sample of mine. The planking is on my TZ mini playfield and the term actually meant nothing to me until recently. I came across this term on one of the sites. So I figured I'd use it as well as call it what I originally called it "cracks"

Nicely said. It kinda makes you feel important and a pinball EXPERT . Got to admit I prefer the basic terms like CRACKS or that thingy on the left of my ramp etc etc
