Spinner on police force
« on: December 05, 2015, 05:23:03 PM »
Hey guys I went to put a decal on this spinner only to realise it won't go on properly as the surface is not flat.
Any ideas on how to modify this piece to put the sticker on?
Don't fancy my chances finding a spinner. This must be missing something

Make sure the surface is flat and sealed as decals hate pitted surfaces, so you might want to give the backing a quick squirt with some poylurethane spray.
Once that has completely dried and degassed you can apply the decal. If its laminated then you can heat very gently with a hairdrier and push the decal into the grooves. Only works with laminated vinyl prints though and you have to be real gentle with that hairdrier.

From what I have seen other spinners don't have these bolts etc and are completely flat..

It has already been modified.

The outer pieces of scrap metal on both sides being held on with bolts are an aftermarket hack by an op and shouldn't be there.

That's why it isn't flat on either side.

I would take the whole assembly apart, clean it up (get that grey/white primer paint off with some turps) and see what you have got to work with from the original factory piece.

If the original pieces are most likely broken in two then maybe it can be repaired with some JB Weld.

Reference piece - not mine.

Had a friend fix one up for me. Not bad effort considering the old piece
