Question re Jungle Queen
« on: January 17, 2016, 10:18:49 PM »
G'day,

Just having an intermittent problem with my Jungle Queen machine progressing to next ball.
ie play ball 1 then it won't change to 2nd ball just displays 1. Then stays on 2 another one, then they all work?
I have the diagram that Strangeways a few years ago but its been a while?
I have sprayed cleaner on the terminals of the stepper unit but no real difference.

Any ideas?

J.D.

Sounds like the ball count stepper is out of whack slightly... largish disc with brass buttons that has an arm that moves over it.
You can move the arm manually while machine is on by pushing the coil plunger in.. this will increment it one step.
Start on ball 1 and manually move the arm... look to see if ball 2 is now lit etc.
If not, the problem should be evident by looking at what's touching at the disc and wiper

As Gav suggests, the ball count unit is your first item to check.

The more complicated item will be the player unit. This is the large unit in the headbox. There are a lot of contacts, cogs and armatures. This unit is responsible for moving features, lamps and scoring from one player to the next. If the switch stacks become loose, you can have all sorts of issues with this unit. Tighten each switch stack - there's a few to do here, and you will need to unclip the unit to access it correctly. I feel the problem will be in this area.

The easiest way to troubleshoot is to test the game with 1 player only. Problem persists, it is more likely the ball count unit.

Retropin wins this time. I am glad it wasn't the bigger job Strangeways. The ball stepper unit was jambed up a little. Once I moved the wheel it clicked and seemed ok from then on. I checked the mounting screws thinking it was misaligned but all tight. Cleaned with electric cleaner and all is working well now thanks very much to you both. I have attached a photo of the stepper. Strangeways, if you want, I can copy those drawings and send you back the origionals that you very kindly sent me?

Anyway, all the best for Australia Day to you both and to all!
