Sky jump penny arcade wall game
« on: February 21, 2016, 01:14:36 AM »
Hey guys finally started another one of my old game not sure of the year it was made I'm guessing 1940s or 1950s it's called Sky Jump insert your penny which releases all the balls the knob on the right you twist and it feeds the ball upto the top and the knob at the bottom moves the metal rails kind of in a flapping motion.  Aim is to get the highest score you can with the 5 balls.

First thing is to repair the cabinet I'm told these were built with animal glue (yes sending the old racehorse tonthe glue factory was a real thing haha)  this glue dries out and crystallises and flakes away so most corners were shagged lots of cleaning clamping recleaning reclaiming till it looked tight then pump in the clue before reclaiming again

While that dries I stripped down the Playfield

After stripping it down gave it a scrub didn't come up to bad wasn't game
To try anymore for fear of rubbing off the art.

Polished up all the ball guide things and the rails then reassembled

Sanded down the door and gave it a coat of clear which showed some imperfections I wasn't happy with don't want it to look new just not beaten to crap.
Fixed those walked outside gave it a second coat beautiful literally walked into the shed to clean up and beautiful Victoria blessed me with a 3 second taint burst by the time I ran outside it was stuffed and the rains had stopped wasn't a happy boy

Gave it another sand down got a much better result this time without the rain
M

Put the door back together and I'm pretty happy with the result can't wait to finish the cabinet and mount it somewhere

Yeah it's coming up pretty well so far.

I have a guy I the UK with one who is going to scan the original topper for me I'll keep the home made one with the game incase people remember playing it back in the day.

I've woken up feeling like shit so might not get any more done today but see how the day turns out
