Vintage Arcade Machine Restoration
« on: August 11, 2016, 06:20:19 PM »
I have been asked to restore this little beauty which has been recently shipped over from the USA, it's a 1974 Allied Industries Chopper Game.

Quite ordinary as far as fun goes but very nostalgic, once completed it will be sent to Luna Park in Sydney.

It does not work at the moment and this is something I will need to sort out, being a very early solid state game could be tricky and it uses Nixie Tubes for score displays.

As far as making it look good should not be a problem as it is in reasonable condition, the main cabinet needs re stenciling and some other painting and polishing. Also needs the seat re upholstered and some metal trim etc but no big deal there.

It turns on but has faults so first thing is to go over connectors etc and see what happens from there.

This should be a fun challenge, I will keep you updated with pics etc..

Here is a pic of it now.

Cheers: Brettski... :)

cool project, thanks for sharing and in a way sad to go to luna park as their pinballs are in a terrible state in the coney island section.

Apparently that is all changing, in a few months there should be around 20 - 30 retro and vintage games onsite! ;)

Awesome. Good luck in the resto and I look forward to checking out the vintage games all being restored for the Sydney Luna park when completed. There's a guy over on AA that has a resto thread up outlining his work on a few commissioned penny arcade games also for Luna Park.
