Sega/DE sound board issue

Wondering if anyone has fixed a DE sound board. My Frankenstein has crapped itself and the two (PAL16L8) chips are hot as hell when the machine is on..no sound coming through the speakers. pinrepair advises changing these chips over, but they are custom programmed. Checked out the stern site..no luck there. Anyone got any ideas on how to program or where I can source them easily???Anyone got a working board they would sell..may be cheaper??

Did your machine have a lot of static/noise coming through the speakers prior to the sound going?

No Just stopped working. All you get now is low hum in the speakers. Voltages are good. That link takes you to the ROM's for programming sound chips, but not the AL16L8

The U19 and U20 sound chip images are there, these are for the chips that you mentioned.

To program PAL chips you need a PAL programmer, a standard EPROM programmer will not work.
I use a Logical Devices PALPRO-2X. Ive done PAL's for the DMD display boards previously, never had the need as yet to do the ones on the sound board. Let me know if you want help.
