Progress has been slow, busted a bone in my hand  ^.^ everything takes longer at the moment.

Pic shows the stripped playfield.  Mylar is interesting it's really thick, haven't seen anything this thick since I did a Recel a few years back and if your not careful it re sticks to the playfield, also had some sticky tape along the top arch to protect it.

Thick Mylar = Laser cut.. I think this would be about the time when Factory mylar was installed. My Flash Gordon has a piece of Factory mylar in the envelope that came with the machine.. So it makes sense..

Is that a ball arch area with artwork ??? That would be the only Centaur I've seen with no wear down to wood.  #*#

Sorry have been pretty slack of late, had no interest in doing any pinball for sometime now.  Anyway got back into it last week and have managed to finish off the playfield touch ups.  Had to strip all previous playfield touch ups, then gave it a quick hit of clear.  Before filling all worn area's with spot putty prior to doing any touch ups.  Although far from perfect think the end result is acceptable?  Touch ups were all done by hand.

Have gone from this, to looking like this.

An impressive improvement, Mick. You can easily see where the mylar was - the "milky" sections of the playfield. The clear looks very good - Have you finished laying all the layers of clear - or is is a preliminary clear ?

Keep the updates coming - I have not seen a restored Centaur before, so I'm keen to see it come together.

This is the finished product.  After the touch ups it's had a further 6 coats of clear.  There was nothing I could do with some of the yellowing white area's, also the gouge marks from where the mylar on the playfield had originally been cut with a knife were next to impossible to completely remove they were just too deep.  The enamel black paint that had previously been applied to cover bare area's caused problems during the clear coating process, even after it's complete removal no amount of prepsol, sanding, cleaning or sealing with primer helped.

Looks awesome Mick!

To be honest I can't see where the touchup was! So either my eyes are f**ked or you did an awesome job - well done  ^^^
