Another Day on Mars (Sydney area dust storm)
« on: September 23, 2009, 10:08:28 AM »
Another morning on mars.

A look out the window to check the weather:

A little windy

I need to wash the damn car again

Usual traffic on the way in

I got a nice park at work

All  in all a normal day here on the martian colony.

Wow o wow at 6:15 this morning it was an awesome, armageddon blood red sky.

By 8 it was just weird orange, and now (9) it is a pale yellow outside.

The orange messes with your internal "white balance" - headlights looked blue, orange lights, indicators etc looked bright yellow. Streetlights looked blue, and green traffic lights looked very green/blue.

Freaky fun. haven't seen the skies here like this since one time in the early 80's. I lived in Moree for a few years, you used to get dust storms a couple of times a year up there, but they would dissipate pretty quick - this one is gonna be here a while I reckon.

Already on they hayfever pills *!@

Cheers
Jacob

I am in Wollongong, I rose at 5.15am and seriously took about 3 or 4 looks out various windows of the house as I could see this ‘red glow’ that didn’t look right.
In that ‘light’ it was seriously blood red with the glow of the street lights.
It was VERY VERY eerie and reminded me of War of the Worlds, I was waiting for the lightning bolts to start !

I considered waking my kids to show them ,but decided against it.
When I left home at 6am there was people out in the street with their kids and camera’s.

What a crazy morning.

Despite keeping the doors shut, and what I thought was a well sealed shed, my machines are covered in this shit.  !!! The dust seems to be thinning now, big clean-up tommorrow, and everything is red outside (even the dog lol). Apparently Brisbane is pretty bad now as well, its said to be 800ks long this cloud.

Yep, Brisbane was pretty ordinary today.  Walked to the bus stop thinking what a beautiful morning it was.  By lunch time the dust was stinging your eyes - you could taste the dirt in the air.  No awesome red glow though *.*
