See the two sliding arms at the top - pull them towards you (facing the rear of the head) - this creates a "cavity" for the glass to GENTLY move back towards you. Now the glass can be lifted (from the front) into that cavity. Then pull the glass out (by the channel).

There might be a small label stapled to the LHS of the headbox with a brief warning about removing the glass.

From memory - this is how they are removed - Remove GENTLY - and with two people - just to be safe.

Would say the front looking at those pix, unless (as in the 3rd photo) the 'frame' behind the backglass comes out?

The frame is nailed in and looks permanent - Looks like the only way out is the front -a bit worried as the paint may have sealed around the chrome frame at the front with the painted woodwork.  !@#

Run a craft knife between the paint and free it up

if those 2 pieces of metal at the top go into 2 holes or cutouts in the top part of the frame then slide them back and then lift it and remove as per any other back glass. ( after cutting the paint around the front frame)

Metal frame has to be taken out - I don't recall that on any of the pins from that era.
