That's OK, i didn't realize this thread was ready to go. Alright......I'll try not to bore......
1. Earliest pinball memory?
Around '81 (i think). Can't remember where or what game (probably a pub or caravan park when on holidays) my dad put some money in a machine and explained the flippers. He was not into pinball. This is a VERY vague memory. After that, when i saw a machine i'd check it out, or if had money (rarely) i'd play it. When i worked out there were rules, addiction kicked in. I also loved video games (Xevious blew me away when i first saw it, and there were some awesome games coming through not long after). There weren't many machines around my area, mainly late 70's Ballys. My parents would occasionally (once a year or so) take me to an arcade, where i saw heaps of early 70's late 80's pins. When prices went from 20c to 40c, that really killed it for me (2 games for a buck instead of 5), but i still tried to fit pinball in whenever i could. Loved living in a time where Kiosks, Fish and Chip shops, Corner stores etc. had pins. Who new that the old SuperSonic or Kiss or whatever over in the corner getting bashed everyday would become such a collectable in years to come. Was a great time in my life, i'm attempting to live it again!
2. All time favorite pin? Why?
Paragon. Colossal machine. King of all late 70's early 80's to me. Art and playfield way over the top.
3. Favorite pinball manufacture?
Hard to say. If i
had to choose, i'd choose Bally, if anything for the art. Late 70's Bally's had great art, really colourful, bold and round (no i don't mean breasts either
). I also like the art on old Gotts. Pinball is art to me.
4. Favorite game in your collection? Why?
Can't say yet. Flash vs Gorgar. Flash feels really good, but Gorgar is just a prick (ie, challenging). Haven't played either enough yet to choose.
5. How long have you been collecting?
1 month
6. First game and how did you find it?
Gorgar from a dealer in Sydney. First pin, a dream since i was about 10.
7. Do you still have it?
Yes i won't be selling this one.
8. What are you currently working on?
As in repairs? Top left flipper on Flash. My brothers a great tech he's got it covered.
9. Most wanted game to add to your collection?
Paragon.
10. Best all time bargain game added to your collection?
Well i thought the Flash i bought of Rollerball was a great deal. Thanks Rollerball.
11. Worst ever miss – tell us about the one that got away!
None yet, i'm sure it will happen.
12. Worst ever purchase – tell us about the game you wished you never bought
None yet as long as they keep working.
13. Describe your collection
Gorgar and Flash, 2 pins from 1979. Looking for more pins from this era.
14. Describe your gamesroom
A bedroom sized room with my record/cd collection (i also love Rock'n'roll). Can fit 2 more machines before i start invading the lounge room
. Will be working on posters etc. when i get time.
15. Do you have other games other than pinball?
only a PS2, but i've seemed to have lost interest in video games. Loved C64 when i was young (was very lucky my parents bought me one), next best thing to being in an arcade back then.
16. Where can you see the hobby in 10 years?
Mmm well i'm new the hobby so i'm not sure. I'll certainly be involved. My friends and family aren't into pinball much at all, but why can't i get them off my machines??? Pinball is just TOO COOL. It will always be around i think/hope.
