Woodrail Backglass is starting to flake
« on: November 01, 2009, 08:53:24 AM »
Hi All,

I'm preparing to restore a 40's woodrail machine. The backglass is in really good condition, however it has some slight flaking starting around the bottom edge. I'm worried about it getting worse and don't know how to treat it.

I've heard bad stories about using Krylon triple thick on old backglasses.

Does anyone have some advice or experience in treating this to stop the flaking?

Regards

Gordo......

I've done a partial seal on a lifting section of a backglass - so I didn't do the entire backglass - just the corner the paint was lifting.

This was on a 70's glass - not a 40's glass.

If Tony has seen it - I'd follow his advice.

The glass is just amazing....Michael and I had it outside in the sunlight and we were just amazed at the condition.

This is what the glass looks like (though this one isn't in the greatest condition
