pinball legs
« on: January 19, 2010, 07:16:16 PM »
Technically not a newbie but I always consider myself one as there's always something you don't know. Well been looking at my collection and seeing the various leg heights available on the market I figured to ask the obvious - is there a size leg for particular titles or makes of pinballs?

I noticed my TZ sits much lower to my other pins and was thinking of replacing the legs on it. So what's the go with legs? Thanks

Here's a quick chart: http://www.pbresource.com/legs.html#most

I am sure if you dig around you can find a more comprehensive one.

well measured the legs on the TZ and 28.5" but wait they are bolted much lower to the cabinet. Went to IPDB.org and viewd a pic where the front legs mount just under the spiral design where my legs are pretty much centre of the spiral. Why would this be?

When the plates holding the bolts fail they moved the legs down to save buying a new plate

The machine needs decalling so I might bog up the holes and get new plates etc before install the decals. I'm sure the machine will look better being a similar height to the rest of them. Still plays really well though!!

I need to redecal mine when they are available at a reasonable price.  You shouldn't have to bog the holes.  They will be covered by the legs and are factory I think.

TZ has 3 leg holes, not 2 like other pins, the standard leg will cover the highest and lowest cabinet mounting holes no problem no matter what position the legs are mounted in.
I have found that the proper 6.5 inch incline/pitch on the playfield is achieved much easier when the front legs are bolted higher up towards the lock bar.
I tried getting the 6.5 degree pitch using the leg levellers but felt the back levellers were out far more than I was comfortable with, reducing the front height meant I didnt have to extend the leg levellers out to far.
Mounting the front legs higher lowering the front would also make it easier for some short kids to play, nut its a not really a kid easy/play friendly machine.
